And we're off to Verona on this beautiful day!
Driving
across countries are so enjoying because the roads are so wide and the
scenery is just so beautiful. Something different from Malaysia.
Not forgetting some OOTDs before we left our hotel. We are so blessed to have long mirrors in most of our hotels haha.
Happily wearing my new Kenzo top that we bought few days ago. It was from Kenzo Kids! So lucky for it to fit me!!
Just
thought of taking some pictures of our awesome car. We actually got a
free upgrade for our car rental! Which was definitely a plus. We're
lovin' it.
Their
GPS system is SO GOOD and it takes you all around Europe. Not once did
it bring us to the wrong place! Unlike WAZE. Urgh mojor dislike that
app.
We actually stopped by Bottega outlet shop on the way
to Verona but didn't manage to get anything. Jamie has wanted their
bracelet for the longest time.
We
actually only came here for one reason. Which was to visit Juliet's
Balcony!!! If you watched Letters to Juliet you would know where this
it! I have definitely wanted to come here since I've watched that show.
It looked exactly like in the movies!!!! Just that now you can't paste letters on the wall anymore and also the crowd there.
They have a few themes on the walls. One wall was for locks, one was for (USED?!) plasters, and lastly........ for chewed gum GROSSSSS.
Juliet's Balcony.
Everyone posed like this. I start to wonder if there was a meaning behind it. haha
We decided to hang our lock here instead of the love lock bridge in Paris cause it seemed like there was much more space here.
Made Jamie climb HIGHHHH UP though not as high as I would've liked. But she was so shy to climb up. shheeesh.
So yes if you do visit, please look out for our lock. It's the bright silver one!!! Let me know if it's still there. Haha!
Yes
that is the bubble gum wall. EWWWWW I felt so grossed OUT even standing
near it!! Although my expression in the picture would read otherwise
hahahaha.
You can actually buy cigarettes here. SO COOL.
Walking
back to where our car was parked and came across this amazing river.
Couldn't pass up the opportunity for some photos of course!
We actually threw the keys to our lock in this river. So now it holds a very special meaning to it.
After
that we got back on track on our journey to VENICE! So much excitement
for that place as I've only heard good things about it and seen
beautiful pictures of it.
Here are also some scenery shots along the way...
Venice is an Island so we actually had to park our car at the mainland and then take the train here.
It
was a huge hassle although we fit all the things we need into one big
bag. Because we underestimated the amount of STAIRS in Venice!!
Looking
so unglam, huffing and puffing up and down those stairs clumsily. Many
people offered to help us but they didn't seem genuine, and we just
thought they were going to steal our luggage imho.
There
was this one guy that sparked this thought, he kept asking us if he
could help us at every flight of stairs. I mean, who would be that nice
to follow you all the way and ask constantly. He has got to have an
ulterior motive, or might just be bad judgement on my part. But we ain't
gonna risk it!
First photo of us in Venice!!!!
We didn't have time to admire Venice yet until we got to our hotel.
Worst
hotel ever I don't even have any photos of it because it was a
nightmare. We were SO GLAD that we were only staying there for a night.
Yes we are only in Venice for half a day. Boohoo :(.
Got changed because it was too damn hot to wear what I was wearing that day!
Thumbing Venice (no pun intended).
Getting
to explore Venice was amazing. It was one of a kind. BUT, it did not
exceed my expectations of beauty. Perhaps I expected too much out of it.
Like in the movies, but don't we all know movies aren't real life!
Went to Alfredino's pasta for late lunch and let me tell you it was the best pasta that we had!!!
It was a very humble shop that didn't want any commercialization AT ALL!
Let
me tell you why, firstly, the shop is SO HARD to find (I guess any shop
is Venice is hard to find because of the way it's built).
But
anyway, secondly, the shop had no chairs but just a long table against
the wall. Honestly, I think the shop can only fit 5-10 customers in
there at once. It was BEYOND tiny!
Thirdly, it was so
hard to even find the name of their shop. I only found this small one
which was very poorly written. And honestly just looks like crap.
Hahaha. Look at their pasta take-away box for instance. Just plain white
(btw all pastas are served in those boxes).
Lastly! They have a very simple menu which I love.
Taste wise,
nothing can compare. The pasta was fresh and served with piping hot
sauce which made my mouth burn with deliciousness!!! It was really very
tasty. They are well known for their fresh pasta and you can even see
them making it at the back.
Who knew one bowl of pasta could make us so bloated. But as a girl you would know that, we are never too full for desserts!
You
might not believe me but this is also the best gelato that I've eaten
here in Europe. It wasn't researched and a pure random pick.
First time trying pistachio flavour and it did not disappoint! I would go back for seconds if I knew where the shop was haha.
After walking around we just decided to sit at this fountain nearby our gondola ride.
These 2 street performers suddenly stopped by and started setting up their bubble act. It was quite facinating and fun.
So we just sat there and watched the kids jump about for about 30 minutes and head to queue for our gondola ride!
This
is one of the things that I have dreamt of since I was a little girl.
Sitting the gondola with your other half. It's such a dream come true!
Us on the gondola!
We
had such amazing view on the gondola. But our ride was quite unpleasant
because we paid for the serenading. Who knew that it was a GROUP
SERENADE and we were so far from him that we could hardly hear him
singing. Sad face. What a rip off.
This bird was so friendly.
Loved this wall sticker.
After our ride we looked for a place to eat. I didn't know Venice was famous for their squid ink pasta until Jamie told me.
Something
I don't mind trying because I love squid! So we used trip advisor to
see where we would pick. And we came to an agreement to dine in Madonna!
Took us quite awhile walking there. But we made it!
Squid ink pasta!
The squid ink pasta and fish dish (no picture) didn't disappoint. Though it did not look appetizing but tasted awesome.
The crab dish on the other hand, was weird. We didn't like it. Tasted like cheese. Eww.
After
dinner, it got really dark really fast! We got so scared because
suddenly the streets were deserted and the street lights were really
dim.
At times when we were walking through this narrow
walkway we would come to a dead end which was HORRIFIC! I was just
praying the whole time that we would reach our hotel in one piece.
We took about 30-40 minutes before we reached and was so relieved! Never been so happy to see our gross hotel but yea.
Next I am going to blog about PISA! xx stay tuned.
